Ashwagandha with Black Pepper Extract

What is Ashwagandha?

"Ashwagandha" is the Sanskrit word for "smell of the horse". Think that's funny? Neigh, it's just a perfect metaphor for a magical herb with a rich, earthy scent and potent powers! Ashwagandha is used for a variety of conditions like anxiety and fertility.

Ashwagandha, botanical name Withania somnifera, is widely known as "Indian Winter cherry" or "Indian Ginseng". It is a small, evergreen shrub with yellow flowers that grows in the drier regions of India, the Middle East, and parts of Africa.

Ashwagandha roots and berries are eaten as is for their medical properties. Still, generally, it is offered in capsules, tablets, powder, tincture and tea. You can take it as one single dose or multiple doses per day. You can also ingest it in many ways, either with meals or on an empty stomach.  To enjoy it in your food, add it to any nut butter, granola, smoothies, or oats… have fun with your naturals!

It is sold in many countries as a dietary supplement and recognized as an invaluable herb in Ayurveda healing.

What is Ashwagandha not?

We have to ask, as many people confuse Ashwagandha with Physalis alkekengi (known as winter cherry) or American ginseng, Panax ginseng, or eleuthero.

Ashwagandha Contains:
• Calcium
• Vitamin C
• Iron
• Protein
• Minerals
• And more!

It sounds like our capsules will be perfect additions to your morning meal! This plant has a variety of benefits, some of them rather surprising. Let's look at them…

  • • Antibacterial
    • Antifungal

    • Studies show it helps increase muscle growth, making you stronger!
    • People have reported a wonderful reduction in post-workout muscle damage
    • Ashwagandha is helpful in reducing triglycerides (the most common type of fat in the blood).
    • It may also lower your blood sugar levels.

    • AND lower your cholesterol levels… (is there no end? How low can you go?).
    • Limited studies show that Ashwagandha may have some benefits for diabetes or high blood sugar levels.
    • Ashwagandha contains compounds that can help reduce inflammation.
    • And may even support heart health!

  • • Ashwagandha contains chemicals that can help to calm the brain - this is why it is touted as a gold-standard natural medicine for anxiety and why it gives such deep sleep.
    • Taking Ashwagandha reduced people's anxiety levels and helped them feel more alert when they woke up.
    • Ashwagandha's antioxidant effects on the brain may benefit cognitive health and cognition.

    • Along with all of that – it is a valuable memory aid for immediate and general memory.

  • • Improves sexual function.
    • Studies have shown significant improvements in arousal and lubrication.
    • As well as boosting orgasm and satisfaction levels.

Of course, the above can also result from lowered (even perceived) stress. With lowered stress hormones, naturally, the relaxed body is much more receptive to pleasure.

And now… let's get peppery.

Black Pepper Contains:

  • Antioxidants

  • Flavonoids

  • Essential oils

  • Vitamin E

  • Vitamin A

  • Thiamine (B1)

  • Pantothenic Acid (B5)

The Multiplied Benefits of An Ashwagandha and Black Pepper Combo

For starters, the pepper brings an additional surge of vitamins and minerals per dose. This combination is used in Ayurveda to support stress, reduce anxiety, relieve depression and boost a host of mental issues like those already listed. Better focus and alertness are always at the top of our list.

Both magic plants have super-powers… so when combining the two, these benefits are exponentially  increased! Peppers' power comes from a plant compound called 'piperine', which has enormous healing properties.

Piperine has strong antioxidant properties

Piperine has strong antioxidant properties. The body creates free radicals, unstable molecules that can damage cells naturally and in response to environmental stresses. Piperine is proven to prevent or delay the damaging effect of free radicals. Now, you add Ashwagandha's powerful antioxidant properties, and you can blow the roof with this antioxidant power.  Two antioxidants for the price of one? Yes, please.

Pepper also increases the digestive system's ability to absorb Ashwagandha better. Because you are absorbing more into your system, you are not wasting them in elimination. This, in turn, brings an incredible bonus benefit: your hungry little cells have much easier and increased access to all the healing compounds. Piperine also aids the cells in retaining what they have absorbed for longer, as well.

We end our list (and there are many more benefits) with the fact that combining black pepper with Ashwagandha offers you lower blood sugar levels, and prevents those energy-draining blood sugar spikes.

We hope you are ready to pop a power capsule and give your entire being a boost today!
